Background Information
The need for a 5-lane road was first formally identified in the County’s 1988 Transportation
Plan and reaffirmed in the 2002 Transportation Plan. Both plans went through an
extensive public involvement process before being presented to the Board of County
Commissioner for approval. While being identified early on for improvements, due
to other more pressing improvement projects and financial constraints, the Bethany
improvements were delayed until now.
The County understands that the construction of a 5-lane road within this area will
have an impact on properties. One of the County’s main goals in design this transportation
project will be to minimize these impacts as much as possible while at the same
time constructing a safe and efficient transportation project.
